Willie Sneed, 71, of Aurora, IL was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Willie was the 2nd oldest of seven children born on July 2, 1951 to the late Emmett and Estella (Grant) Sneed in New Madrid, Missouri. He accepted Christ at an early age at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Parma, Missouri where Reverend John Nabor was Pastor.
Willie was a graduate of East Aurora High School. After graduation he went on to pursue course work to begin his career of opening and starting his own business, "Sneed Remodeling" in the late seventies.
Willie enjoyed being around family and friends, cooking, laughing, watching football and basketball games on TV, and having fun. To know him was to love him. He did numerous jobs in the community, helping shovel snow for the elderly, home repairs, amongst other things.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Estella (Grant) Sneed; two brothers, Emmett Jr. and Donald G. Sneed; maternal grandparents, Deacon Charlie and Sallie Grant; paternal grandparents, Deacon Heuria and Elizabeth Sneed; and beloved son, Willie Emmett Brown.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, daughter Felicia (James) Griffin; sisters, Bearlan (Booker) McKinney and Corine (Shawn) Brown; brothers, Carl and Larry Sneed, all of Aurora; long time friend, Janice Holloway; four grandchildren, Isaiah, Teanna, James Jr., Tynario; eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 20, 2023 at 12:00 PM in the New Jerusalem M.B. Church, 773 Austin Ave, Aurora IL 60505. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Oswego.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the church.
