William F. Russ of Aurora, IL passed away Friday, February 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. William was born March 9, 1940 in Aurora, IL.

He attended East Aurora High School in the late 1950's and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960 and was part of the 4th Armored Division. He was a devout Roman Catholic and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia, IL.

He was the owner of the Bungalow Tavern in Yorkville, IL where he built the softball ballfield in the 1960's that is still in use today. He would later sell the tavern to become a route and sales driver/rep for local distributorships from the 70's to 2000. In his retirement he became a Starter/Ranger at Fox Valley and Phillips Park Golf courses over the last two decades. Dedicated junior-high football coach at St. Rita of Cascia in the 70's. Aurora Baseball Youth head coach during the 70's with Chris' Twin Twirl and Stephenson Adamson. Bill enjoyed playing golf, watching Chicago sports (Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks), and spending time with family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his four children; Bill Russ, Jr. of Avila Beach, CA, Todd Russ of Phoenix, AZ, Keith (Laura) Russ of Valencia, CA, and Dawn (Kevin) Kigyos of Montgomery, Il. He was adored by his six grandchildren, Ryan Russ, Brad (Tatianna) Kigyos, Austin (Shelby) Russ, Brandon Kigyos, Lauren Russ and Bryanna Kigyos.

Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary, with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage; his parents William H. and Hallara L. (Anderson) Russ; and his granddaughter, Julia Russ.

He was an incredible son, step-brother, husband, father and grandfather who was loved by his family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street Aurora, IL 60506, 630-631-5500.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 9:45 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY; to Holy Cross Church at 10:30 am; Fr. Patrick Gillmeyer will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
