Vicki S. Kjendal-Olsen (known to everyone as Vicki K-O) passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 29, 2021, in her home in Montgomery, Illinois at the age of 72. Vicki was born on February 22, 1949, in West Palm Beach, FL. She moved to Chicago and graduated from Jones Commercial High School.
Vicki was on every social media platform and showed love by posting and commenting all day every day. Her newsfeed on Facebook was filled with the things she was most passionate about, Chihuahuas, politics, and her family. She was so proud of her daughter, daughter-in-law, and grandkids and never missed an opportunity to express her adoration.
She often confused text acronyms and thought "LOL" meant lots of love. We let her believe that.
She worked for the City of Aurora for 21 years — 12 years as the Patrol Secretary at the Aurora Police Department. No one loved cops more than Vicki K-O. She was known for her constant use of smiley faces and exclamation points on official department correspondence. She was told to tone down those happy faces many times. She didn't listen.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristen (Kjendal-Olsen) Ziman (Chris Tunney), her grandchildren: Megan (Michael) Hizel, Jimmy Tunney, Bailey (Finn Brutsman) Ziman, and Jacob Ziman. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Emily Carter, who wasn't blood-related but was family just the same. She left behind 2 chihuahuas and 1 Chiweenie that she loved and spoiled: Blanca, Bella, and Xena. Her daughter almost didn't include the dogs in this obituary but Vicki wouldn't have been pleased.
In accordance with Vicki's wishes, services will be private.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to The Aurora Police Foundation, Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley:
