Tom H. Hopp, 73, of Aurora passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at his home. He was born November 18, 1949 in Aurora, IL.
Tom was raised and lived in the "Pigeon Hill" area of Aurora all of his life and enjoyed socializing with friends at the Phoenix Club and the St. George Club. His family owned The Hopp Store where he spent a lot of time as a youth. Tom was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and Marmion High School. He was employed for many years at Prairie Materials, until his retirement. Tom enjoyed many trips up to his cabin in Rhinelander, WI where he loved to fish during the warmer months and enjoyed ice fishing during the winter months. In his later years, he stayed closer to home spending time with his neighbors and close friends.
He is survived by three children Dina (Thomas) Sharkey of Ireland, Wendy (Tim) Brennan of Aliso Viejo, CA, and Tony (Chris) Hopp of Montgomery, IL; his grandchildren Ciara and Michael Sharkey, Erin and Nolan Brennan, and Roman, Ty, Annika, and Adrik Hopp; and his very special neighbors who were like family to him; Olivia and Gonzalo and Tom's "grandchildren" Fatima and her son Adiel, Ivan, and Brandon, and his other special neighbors Alex and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mary (Wagener) and Herman Hopp.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 12:00pm at St. Joseph Church. Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday morning at St. Joseph Church from 11:00am until the funeral hour at 12:00pm.
