Obituary

Thomas Edward Banks, of Geneva, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Thomas was born in Aurora, Illinois, on January 19, 1949, to Thomas and Mary (Pereni) Banks. He grew up in Aurora and went on to earn his bachelor's degree at Loyola University in Chicago. Thomas built a fulfilling career as an accountant. He began at Arthur Anderson, then worked at GTE/Verizon, Henry Pratt in Aurora, Dr. Scholls, and ultimately retired from Vapor Bus International.

Above all, Tom cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Debra (Rust) Banks. He enjoyed his family above all, playing cards, attending school sporting events for two generations of family, traveling to visit friends & family. His favorite TV shows and movies included Jeopardy, Paladin, Star Trek (live long and prosper), Top Gun and Mission Impossible. He loved listening to the music of 7th Heaven at outdoor concerts. His favorite artist was Steve Winwood, with his favorite songs to include "Higher Love" and "Back in the Highlife Again".

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Debra; his brothers, James (Susan) Banks and Robert Banks; his sisters, Mary Ann (Albert) Signorelli and Judith (Doug) Winsor; and his nieces and nephews, Brenda (Brad) Atwell and their children, Kaylee and Rylie; Lisa (Ryan) Kramer and their children, Madison and Ashley; Diane (AJ) Jackson and their children, Ethan and Parker; and Stephanie (Jeff) Gostomski and their children, Grayson and Jonah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Mary Banks; and his nephew Jeffrey Signorelli. His family will remember him for his love, devotion, and the many special moments they shared together. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Visitation will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Daleiden Mortuary (220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 60506) from 9-10AM.
