Thelma O. Felten

Thelma Carder Felten found peace and an end to suffering on July 26, 2018 at Jennings Terrace in Aurora. Thelma was born August 12, 1929 in Gallatin, Missouri to Alexander and Mae (Hendersen)Carder. Even as a child, the second youngest of 8 siblings and 3 step-siblings, Thelma was artistic and creative. Her passion and talent continued well into her eighties with traditional and abstract acrylic and oil painting, crafting beautiful original needlework, sewing, teaching ceramics and china painting with her sisters Alice and Marge, and writing and illustrating stories of her childhood as a sharecropper in Missouri. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she delighted in feeding whoever came to visit on Sundays at noon. She enjoyed traveling especially with Mike, Mary and Meg and loved celebrating life at Skip and Linda’s many themed parties. Thelma and her daughter Cindi were among the earliest members of Fox Valley HeartSisters Support Group in 2004. Thelma designed the logo used on their brochures. She was fondly nicknamed “Beads” by grandchildren Sydney and Logan because she always wore matching jewelry and scarves with every outfit! Thelma is survived by her children Cindi (Jeff) Reuland, Skip (Linda) Marshall, and Mike (Mary) Standley; her grandchildren Ryan (Jenny Weese) Reuland, Brigit (Jason) Reuland Foster, Shannon (Brian) Reuland Murray, Todd Felten, Chad (Stephanie Brody) Felten, Dr. Matthew (Banafsheh Azarmi) Felten, Megan (Chris) Felten Vidano and great grandchildren Sydney and Logan Reuland, Derek Felten, Melody Felten, and Alice and Maggie Murray. Also surviving is her friend of more than 70 years Gloria Jones, one of the many “AT&T girls” she joined for lunches when they were able. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and her husband of 46 years Robert Felten who she cared for faithfully until his death in 1995. Thelma’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Seasons Hospice as well as her devoted nurses and caretakers at Jennings Terrace. We will miss our Sundays with Mom. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 5:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, interment will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 60506. (630) 631-5500.
