Obituary

Terrence J. Mulligan, 86, of Sugar Grove, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at his home. He was born February 1, 1937 in Aurora, Illinois
Terry Mulligan had a passion for construction and masonry, he worked in various construction jobs before becoming a bricklayer. He learned on the job and eventually started his own company in 1973 with just a pick-up truck, a used mixer and $1,500. Through hard work and dedication, he grew his company to be the 3 rd largest masonry company in Illinois. His company won many awards for their work, one of them being the Naperville Public Library. Terry took pride in every job they did and loved the beauty of the finished buildings. He believed that masonry was the toughest and most physically demanding of all trades, but he loved doing it.
Terry belonged to the Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Chicago Masonry Contractors Association, the Mason Contractors of Fox Valley / Chicago National MCAA. During his time as Chairman, he lead groups to Washington DC every year to talk to Congress about the needs of Mason Contractors.
He believed that the ability to look at a building and know that he had played a part in its creation was the essence of his career.
As rewarding as his career was, Terry always believed that his biggest success in life was his family. He was a loving man and always put his family above all.
He is survived by wife of fifty seven years, Kathie (Seifert) Mulligan; two daughters, Susie (Christopher) Mabrey, Rebecca (Joe) Evola; three grandchildren, Sidney Miller, Amanda (Tyler Goodson) Hoolehan, Kiara Evola; four great grandchildren, Jackson Hoolehan, Grant Hoolehan, Levi Goodson, Olivia Goodson; his sister, Kathy Mulligan; his niece, Mary Hubbard; his nephew Michael Mulligan and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Claire (Mateas) Mulligan; his brother, Thomas Mulligan.
