Sharon L. May
1940 - 2024
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother, Sharon L. May (Barbel), who left us on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, after a beautifully lived life. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. She was born April 16, 1940, in Aurora, IL.
As a child, Sharon attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Madonna High School in 1958. She married Raymond J. May in June 1959. Sharon and Raymond were married for 65 years. She volunteered at Saint Charles Hospital and was a trainer for Fox Valley Dog Training Club. Sharon had a zest for dancing, gardening, margaritas, and rescuing animals. Above all she was a good listener, enjoyed giving advice, and was a genuine friend.
She is survived by three children Dave (Melody) May of Sugar Grove, IL, Tim (fiancé Michelle Weber) May of Yorkville, IL, and Lisa Herron of Batavia, IL; 8 grandchildren Brian May, Philip (Misty) May, Davey (Diane) May, Timmie (Kelly) May, Tara (Brian) Bevard, Kalie (Denver) Wilson, Abby Herron, and Aerin Seemann; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Brenda) Barbel; and a niece, Andrea (John) Novak.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond May; parents Claire and Arthur Barbel; and her sister Linda Barbel.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 6:30pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, with Fr. Jerome Leake officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00pm until the funeral hour at 6:30pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St. Aurora, IL. 60506
