Rosemary Bohr

Rosemary (Winckler) Bohr, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at Jennings Terrace. She was born on June 26, 1920 in New Riegel, Ohio, the daughter of Edward and Mary Winckler. Rosemary attended St. Nicholas Grade School and Madonna High School. On June 22, 1940, she married her “honey”, Albert C. Bohr at St. Nicholas Church in Aurora. They spent the next 54 years of their life together until Albert’s death on March 15, 1994. Rosemary was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing her children’s clothing and all their Halloween costumes, baking and decorating all the birthday cakes, canning and a talent for making delicious meals with whatever was in the pantry and refrigerator. Rosemary enjoyed attending her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sports, school activities and birthdays. She was always ready to play a game of Bingo or a good card game with her family or friends, win or lose. Rosemary was very proud of “her books” documenting the family history. Rosemary was a member and officer of the St. Ann’s Sodality of St. Nicholas Church and was a member of numerous committees. She was also a Cub Scout Den Leader, Little Women’s Club sponsor, the Catholic Order of Foresters, WCU, the Ladies of Columbus #736 and Friendly Center. Rosemary and Al dedicated their lives to their family, church and community to the fullest. She is survived by three sons: Edward Bohr of Shorewood, IL, Robert (Jane) Bohr of Batavia, IL and Richard (Archie) (Susan) Bohr of Glendale, AZ.; three daughters: Rosemarie (Larry) Brookner of Nixa, MO., Marilyn (Ben) Hollesen of Sioux Rapids, IA and Joan (Michael) Tomse of Aurora, IL; 21 grandchildren: Kathleen Dotson, Mary (Larry) Boyd, Alan (Sandy) Brookner, Aimee (Brandon) Alviar, Janice (James E.) McMillan, Ben (Val) Hollesen, Anne (Matt) Hagedorn, Ryan (Emily) Bohr, Brandon (Katrina) Bohr, Ellen (Jim) Zitkus, Justin (Jenae) Bohr, Meghan (Patrick) Dunphy, Mairin (Michael) Apostal, Nolan (Allison) Bohr, Colin Bohr, Aislinn Bohr, Mark Tomse, Julie (Esdras) Medeles, Steven (Jodi) Bohr, Kevin Bohr and Brian Bohr; 45 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents, Edward and Mary Winckler; a brother, John (Marie) Winckler; two sisters, Genevieve (Albert) Oehler and Lucille (Patrick, Bob) Tierney-Adams; her daughter-in-law, Lillian (Edward) Bohr; her daughter, Kathleen; grand-daughter, Sara Tomse and a dear friend, Chad Perrigo. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Nicholas and Susan Bohr; brothers-in-law Theodore Bohr, William (Pauline) Bohr, George (Marie) (Evelyn) Bohr, Bernard (Gertrude) Bohr, Arthur (Marjorie) Bohr, Fr. Luke Bohr, O.S.B.; her sisters-in-law: Elizabeth (Peter) Frieders, Mary ( Harry) Theisen, Barbara (John) Gartman, Cecelia (Elmer) Diederich, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosemary’s family would like to thank the staff of Jennings Terrace for the loving care given to our mother. Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Annunciation Church at 12:00 noon Fr. Kenneth Theisen, O.S.B. will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery.
