Robert J. Miller, 85, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Rush Copley Medical Center. He was born on May 2, 1941, in Aurora, Illinois.
Bob was a longtime, devoted member of St. Rita of Cascia Church. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and Marmion Military Academy Class of 1959. He was an active member of the Phoenix Club and Aurora Turners Club. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob never left Pigeon Hill. At the age of fifteen, he began working at the High Street Pharmacy, located at 666 High Street, just a short walk from his home at 655 High Street. He was proud of his work from the very beginning and later became the owner of the pharmacy. Through his steady dedication, he helped create a true sense of community. As time went on, Bob was fortunate enough to purchase the homes surrounding the pharmacy. He became a loving landlord and a friend to many of his tenants.
Bob's legacy of love, strength, selfless giving, and endless devotion to his faith, family, and friends will live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. To know Bob was to love him. His caring ways and kindness freed others to love one another. He lived his Christian life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife of sixty four years, Ann Gleason whom he married in 1962; his four children, Mark Miller, Susan (David) Lifka, Thomas (Deborah) Miller, and Jane (Jeffrey) Scheper; twelve grandchildren, Kristin Kent, Ryan (Sara) Lifka, Melissa (James) Kane, Eric (Jessie) Lifka, Andrew (Megan) Lifka, Kathryn Lifka, Kayla Miller, Matthew (Reaghan) Miller, Paige (Ryan) Poplawski, Robert (Larissa) Scheper, Daniel Scheper, and Sarah Scheper; six great-grandchildren, Sophia, Emerson, Lucy, Benjamin, Ella, Ellis; a great grandbaby number seven who is expected in late August; his sister, Sr. Jo Ann Miller, OSF; his sister-in-law, Marianne Miller; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie (Ambre) Miller; his sister, Sr. Mary Louise Miller, OSF; two brothers, Francis Miller and Richard Miller.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 60506. 630-631-5500
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 9:30 AM from DALEIDEN MORTUARY to St. Rita of Cascia Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM; Fr. Michael Burrows, OSB will officiate with interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
