Obituary

Robert D. McCue, age 89, of Aurora passed away at his home on Friday, May 15, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Bob was born on April 21, 1937, in Aurora.

Bob graduated from St Rita's Catholic Elementary and East Aurora High School (1956). Bob was a standout varsity athlete in multiple sports, holding track records, scoring four touchdowns in a single game, All Conference, All Chicago Area Team and was honored as an inductee in the East Aurora Athletic Hall of Fame, and recognized as a distinguished Alumni of East Aurora. Bob started his career in the pump industry at Aurora Pump. From there he gained the expertise and training to venture out and acquire Thomas Pump Company in Chicago with a partner. Shortly after, Bob became the sole owner, visionary businessman and moved Thomas Pump Company to Aurora where it has been a thriving local family business for over 40 years.

In his spare time, he held a position on the East Aurora School District Board and East Aurora Athletic Old Timers for many years, volunteered at the Special Olympics, and donated to countless charities throughout his life.

Bob is survived by his sons and spouses, Bob Jr (Brenda), Michael (Ann) and by his only daughter, Mary McCue; five grandchildren, Jeremiah (Julia) McCue, Cory (Angelica) McCue, Ries (Issac Arroyo) McCue, Riley McCue, Casey Lynn; and five great grandchildren, Ava, Abigail and Alaina McCue, Anya McCue, Duncan Arroyo and by many extended family members including Sherrie Wirtz.
