Obituary

Richard J. Gaffino, 95, of Montgomery, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at The Grove of Fox Valley. He was born on July 9, 1930, in Aurora, Illinois.
Richard was a devoted lifelong member of St. Peter Church. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War with the 2nd Division, 23rd Infantry Regiment, and enjoyed attending Army reunions for many years. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to Richards-Wilcox, Inc. in Aurora before retiring.
Richard was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was well known for participating in local parades with his Korean-era U.S. Army Jeep. He was also a member of the Aurora Hunting and Fishing Club and a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Richard cherished time with his family. His greatest joy was attending the sporting events of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, proudly supporting them and celebrating their accomplishments.
Richard was an upright just man and a good loving father and provider for his family.
He is survived by his three children, Richard (Amy) Gaffino, Linda Wish, Joseph (Kara) Gaffino; twelve grandchildren, Desiree Charles, Tony (Rachel) Gaffino, Lisa Gaffino, Richard Wish, Marie Wish, Therese Wagner, Sarah (Alec) Leali, Bridget Wish, Robert Wish, Rita (Carmelo) Alfano, Lauren Gaffino, Mollie Gaffino; eight great grandchildren, Alexandra (Justin Boecker) Zeiter, Arionna Charles, Avery Charles, Amaya Charles, Xander Gaffino, Cooper Gaffino, Eli Wagner, Logan Wagner; three great great grandchildren, Alyvia Boecker, Ella Boecker, Cole Boecker; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Anne (Leden) Gaffino; his parents, Joseph and Laura (Baietto) Gaffino; three sisters, Mary Millen, Martha Stutzle, Rose Wiezik; his brother, John Gaffino.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 60506. 630-631-5500
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 9:30 AM from DALEIDEN MORTUARY to St. Peter Church, 925 Sard Avenue in Aurora, Illinois at 10:00 AM; Fr. Ruben Herrera will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
