Richard J. "Dick" Edmeier, 89, of Hinckley, Illinois, formerly of Aurora, Illinois, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Ascension Mercy Medical Center. He was born August 20, 1933 in Aurora, Illinois.
Richard was a member of St. Mary church in Dekalb, Illinois. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Richard became a pillar of the Hinckley community during his thirty years as the owner of Edmeier Supermarket. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his four children, Rick (Doris) Edmeier, Joe (Lisa) Edmeier, Dana (Duane) Landmeier, Dean (Janice Triptow) Edmeier; ten grandchildren, Noah (Stephanie) Edmeier, Adam (Nikki) Edmeier, Bernadette Edmeier, Briel (Thomas) Milroy, Bianca (Chad) Frost, Bridgette (Brad) Craig, Lacey Landmeier, Corbin (Amanda) Landmeier, Cheryl Ischar, Denise Upchurch; fourteen great grandchildren, Phoenix and Bella Edmeier; Sophia and Emma Edmeier; Layla Galvan; Ada, Mateo and Olive Milroy; Zeke, Oakley and Kaden Frost; Blakely Craig; Madelyn and Mason Rowe; his sister, Sandra Stadler; two brothers; Tom (Mary) Edmeier, Mike (Janean) Edmeier; his brother-in-law, Bill Martin; many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty five years, Josephine Ann (Nauert) Edmeier: his parents, Max and Theresa (Horndl) Edmeier; a brother, Nick Edmeier; three sisters, Kathleen Martin, Rose Thill and Gertrude Edmeier in infancy.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Church, 1820 Church Road, Aurora, Illinois 60505. Fr. Patrick Gillmeyer, O.S.B. will officiate with interment to follow at Marywood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 60506.
