Reverend Kirk C. Scott
1947 – 2023

Kirk C. Scott 75, of Naperville Illinois passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 after a long illness.

Kirk was born in Frankfurt, Germany and as a child, he grew up in various Air Force communities both in the USA and abroad. He was the son of Gregg C. Scott and Anne B. Scott.

From 1966-1969 he enlisted in the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Following his time in the Army, he got a BBA degree in 1972 from the University of Houston. Later in 1995, he earned his MBA from Northern Illinois University. He worked for Sears, Roebuck, & Co. for 32 years in various financial management positions in Texas and Illinois.

After his retirement he began a second career as a local pastor in the United Methodist Church. He served as pastor of Millington United Methodist Church for 15 years and retired again in 2019.

Kirk was very active in community service. He volunteered his time with the VFW, Brook Crossings Estates Homeowners Association, Boy Scouts of America, Civil Air Patrol, and as a local election judge. He was also honored with a Community Service Award from Sears.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, and his three daughters Rebecca Scott of Aurora, IL, Karen (Matthew) Sirovatka of Aurora, IL, and Deborah (William) Peters of Naperville, IL. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Lori Oakland of East Moline, IL, his brother-in-law Gary Oakland of Port Byron, IL, and sister-in-law Karen Oakland of Tucson, AZ.

Kirk cherished his five grandchildren Thomas Nitsch, Michael Sirovatka, Rachel Sirovatka, Daniel Peters, and Jennifer Peters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his father-in-law, Duane Oakland.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 1:30pm at Wheatland Salem United Methodist Church, 1852 95th St., Naperville, IL. 60564.
Visitation will be Monday, July 17, 2023 at Wheatland Salem United Methodist Church from 4:00pm until 7:00pm and Tuesday morning from 11:00am until the funeral hour.

Kirk loved the Lord and his favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31.
