Raymond R. Witte

Raymond R. Witte, 73, of Aurora, was embraced in the arms of His Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 18, 2011. He was born April 13, 1938 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Walter Witte and Eva Witte Tremain. Ray graduated from St. Nicholas Catholic Grade School and Marmion Military Academy. While at Marmion he lettered in three sports and was Captain of his Varsity football team. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps with his lifelong friend, George Kackert, serving his country proudly. Ray was employed all of his working life for Farmers Insurance Group, first as Manager of the Computer Department, and then as an Agent. He enjoyed golfing, indoor and outdoor bowling, his Chicago Bears and a good poker hand. We enjoyed his incredible sense of humor! Ray was a lifetime member of the Irish, Phoenix, Turner, Athletic and Luxembourg Clubs. Survivors include his five children: Cynthia Witte, Randy (Amy) Witte, Terrance (Lisa) Witte and Marisue (John) Nagy of Aurora, IL and Corey Witte of Los Angeles, CA; his ten grandchildren: Joshua, Matthew, Shannon, Michael, Morgan and Madison Witte, Jonathan Alstott, and Alex, Emily and Jacob Nagy of Aurora, IL; his brothers and sisters: Eva (Ken) Kott of North Aurora, and Betty Didier, Michael Witte and Greg Tremain of Aurora, IL; the mother of his children, Jeanne Witte Prombo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two infant sons, Daniel and Robert; his brother, Walter “Sonny” Witte; and his sister, JoAnna Sauter. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the 3rd and 4th floors of Provena Mercy Center, Provena Mercy Hospice and to Dr. Sharma, Dr. Dodhia and Dr. Sehkon for their kind and compassionate care of Ray. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Church. Fr. John Earl will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, with a Liturgical Wake Service at 6:00 PM, at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora. 630-631-5500.
