Raymond J. "Ray" May, 85, of Aurora, IL crossed over the rainbow bridge on Thursday, August 10, 2023. He was born March 11, 1938 in Aurora, IL.
When Ray was young, he worked with his father, brothers, and sisters at May Appliance. He then became one of the owners at Cipher Electric which he owned since 1977 until his retirement. After Ray retired, his love of animals led him to working at Kendall County Animal Control for 8 years. Ray also volunteered his time at Kendall County Food Pantry and at the North Aurora Spay and Neuter Clinic.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon L. May of Aurora, IL; his three children Dave (Melody) May of Sugar Grove, IL, Tim (fiancé Michelle Weber) May of Yorkville, IL, and Lisa Herron of Batavia, IL; 8 grandchildren Brian May, Philip (Misty) May, Davey (Diane) May, Timmie (Kelly) May, Tara (Brian) Bevard, Kalie (Denver) Wilson, Abby Herron, and Aerin Seemann; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Arthur May; his brothers and sisters Joe, Dolores Symoniak, Dick, Rita Donka, and Joan Morrissey.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm with a chapel service to be held at 7:30pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, 630-631-5500. Please visit our website at www.daleidenmortuary.com where you may leave condolences for Ray's family.
