Obituary

Raquel Medina Salas, 71, of Aurora, passed away peacefully Friday, February 19, 2021 at her home surrounded by all of her loved ones. She was born January 25, 1950 in Seccion Coronel Herrera Municipio de Montemorelos Nuevo Leon (Rancho El Pastor), Mexico. She was a strong woman until the end. She loved her family and adored her grandkids, she adored her mom, February 28th would have been her 47th wedding anniversary, she had a great sense of humor, she was the life of the party, she loved to make people laugh even at the worst times! She was so dramatic and was so loved for that! She loved making her pozole, empanadas and her salsa, she loved looking her best, dancing and music were her passion, she was fond of her music from la "Epoca De Oro", she was so proud to say that she was from Nuevo Leon, she loved playing "la chalupa," which is Mexican lottery, her loud laugh was contagious and one of a kind, she knew how to wake up her grandkids with her loud voice, she made friends everywhere she went, Aurora Pancake House was her go to place, she loved life and was all about it! Her siblings were her treasure; she will forever leave a mark in the lives of those who knew her.
Raquel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and loving person.
Survivors include her husband, Jesus Medina, her children, Jesus Eduardo (Marisela) Medina, Luis Alberto (Jazmin) Medina, four grandchildren, Jasmine, Mireya (Bella), Gabriel and soon to join the family baby Alondra. Her mother, Eva Reyna de Salas, her siblings, Imelda (Enrique) Contreras, Jose Eusebio (Maria) Salas, Maria Del Refugio (Ernesto) Rios, Ana Maria (Jose) Cervantes, Dagoberto (Oralia) Salas, Rosaura "Rose" (Ignacio) Ramirez, Diana (Antonio) Cervantes and Martha Lorena Aranda: numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Jose Guadalupe Salas Sanchez, her brother Jorge Salas and her loving aunt, Josefa Reyna.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, 630-631-5500. Due to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, non-family visitors are asked to pay their respects to the family for only a few minutes and exit the funeral home in a timely fashion. Social distancing and face masks are required for those in attendance.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 9:30 AM from the THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Sacred Heart Church, 771 Fulton Street, Aurora at 10:00 AM.
