Obituary

Peter R. "Pete" Ravasi, 75, passed away August 2 nd , 2023 in his home with his loved ones. He was born February 13, 1948 in Aurora, IL and was a life-long resident. Peter graduated from West Aurora High School class of 1966 and attended the University of Illinois–Chicago. He began his long career as a 45+ year member of the Teamsters Union Locals 423 and 673 as a driver for Moser Lumber Co, Naperville. He continued as a union construction driver in the ready-mix concrete division for Meyer Material Co, Naperville Ready Mix and finally retired from VCNA-Prairie Material in 2013 after 30+ years of service with Prairie. He was a past member of several area social clubs and previously was an officer of the Italian-American Club of Aurora and a parishioner of St.Peter's Church of Aurora. Peter was a life-long softball and baseball fan,especially the Chicago White Sox. He loved motorcycling, repairing cars, and pop music, especially oldies from his high school years. He enjoyed visits to Kenosha, WI to visit dear relatives, road trips to the Florida Keys, his coin collection and a life-long interest in the railway system.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter A. and Carmella V. (Ricchio) Ravasi and one beloved son, Adam T. Ravasi in 1985. Also, a special Aunt, Emma (Ricchio) Marrone of Kenosha, WI and special cousins, Lena (Cesarani) Kopp and John (Bernice) Kopp of Aurora, IL.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Susan J. (Malmgren) Ravasi, two daughters, Sheri-Ann (Chris) Jans of Starkville, Mississippi and Laurin P. Ravasi of Montgomery, IL. Also, 5 grandchildren, Nick T.Gazda of Overland Park, KS, Maddie T. Gazda of Wichita, KS, and Kaylee B. LeCompte and Isabella T. LeCompte, and Olivia R. Whiteside, all of Montgomery, IL. Also, special cousin, Michael (Linda) Kopp of North Aurora, IL and children.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 at St. Peter Church in Aurora , Illinois. Prior to the mass there will be a visitation at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Aurora,
