Patrick J. Griffin, 66, of Aurora, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 21, 2025.
Patrick was known to many simply as "Pat," "PJ," or "Snuffy". He was a passionate golf and sports fan with an encyclopedic knowledge of his Chicago teams – the Blackhawks, White Sox, Bears, and Bulls. His love of music was just as deep, and he could talk for hours about songs, bands, and stats with equal ease. Pat had a zest for life and a magnetic personality that drew people in. He never met a stranger, only friends he hadn't yet made.
Pat leaves behind the love of his life, April, who stood by him with unwavering devotion. He was a proud father and stepfather to sons Todd (Felisha) Canney and Shane Griffin, stepchildren Kyle (Kerry) Nass, Keith (Cathy) Nass, and Kelle (Daniel) McCarty-Crain, as well as six wonderful grandchildren.
He is also survived by his father, Robert Griffin, siblings Mike (Jane) Griffin, Cathy (John) Long, Tim (Janis) Griffin, Terry (Suzette) Griffin, Dan Griffin (Mary), Craig (Karolyn) Griffin, Anne (Mike) Re, and Susan (Mike) Head, sisters-in-law Stormy (Jack) Gray, Sharie (Larry) Gerken, Cindy (Jared) Frankino, and Wendie (Rick) Anderson, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Griffin and his in laws Frank and Stormy Guddendorf.
Pat's warmth, wit, and steadfast loyalty to those he loved will be deeply missed. If you knew him, you were one of the lucky ones.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at The Daleiden Mortuary, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, IL. 60506 (630) 631-5500.
Special thanks to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospital, Northwestern Medical, Delnor and CDH for the care they gave to Pat initially after his injury and especially to Brian Griffin, Jim Torres and to all of Pat's siblings who came to help care for and visit with him during these difficult years.
