Patricia E. Poss, 87, of Rockford, IL passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Siena on Brendenwood retirement community in Rockford, IL.

Pat was born March 3, 1938, in Aurora, IL to Frank and Evelyn (Krantz) Poss. She was a member of Annunciation Church and attended Madonna High School in Aurora. After graduation she held several different jobs until she discovered her vocation at Marmion Academy, where she served as secretary, and then the administrative assistant to the headmaster. She called Marmion her work home from 1962 until she retired in 2006.

Pat drove her iconic Volkswagen beetle with her PEP license plates for years. She was enthusiastic about travel and especially enjoyed numerous trips to Europe where she accompanied groups of Marmion students. She took an Alaskan Cruise that she talked about for years and considered Guatemala her most interesting and fulfilling travel destination because she was given the opportunity to assist Benediction monks in their missionary work among the people.

Pats family brought her joy throughout her life. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family on their annual trip to Escanaba, Michigan. Her fondness for jelly beans was well known, and her great nieces and great nephews could always count on Aunt Pat to satisfy their sweet tooth at the holidays. She moved to Rockford after retirement to be closer to her sister, Joan, who had recently lost her husband. The two of them enjoyed time together, including playing penny slots, as well as shared time with their beloved dogs and practicing their Catholic faith.

Pat is survived by her brother, Rick (Cindy) Poss; nieces, Cheryl (Michael) Tooze, Lori (Robert) Benvenuto, and Michelle (Andy) Gregory; nephews, Michael (Michelle) Jansz, and Kennth Poss; and fourteen great nieces and great nephews.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Evelyn (Krantz) Poss; infant sisters, Joanne and Alice; sister and brother-in-law Joan and Charlie Jansz; and her nephew, Mark Jansz.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 12:30 PM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Annunciation Church at 1:00 PM, Fr. John McFadden will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 12:30 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, 630-631-5500.

Memorial contributions in Pat's name may be made to Annunciation Church or Marmion Academy.
