Patricia Ann (Byrne) Kingsley age 87, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 1,1938, in Chicago, IL, Pat was the eldest of nine children born to Patrick and Ann (Hoffmann) Byrne. The growing family moved to Aurora, IL when she was 12 years old. They settled on the west side of Aurora where Pat completed her elementary school at Holy Angels and later graduated from Madonna High School, Class of 1956.
After graduation she worked at Aurora National Bank and then Northern Illinois (Nicor) Gas. It was there she met the love of her life, Frank Kingsley. They were united in holy matrimony on October 24, 1959, and together they shared 61 beautiful years prior to Frank's passing in 2021. Their love story remains a testament to enduring partnership and mutual devotion. She was the heart of our family and always put the needs of others before herself.
Beyond being a wife and mother, Pat was a valued contributor to her community in North Aurora, IL. She was a founding member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and for over 50 years she faithfully participated in the Altar & Rosary Society and the choir. Her volunteer efforts were extensive and impactful, from ushering at the Paramount Arts Center to tutoring at Dominican Literacy Services and delivering meals for Meals-on-Wheels.
A loyal Chicago Cubs fan, Pat delighted in listening to games on WGN radio and celebrated with joy as the Cubs clinched the World Series in 2016. Her love for sports extended to college basketball as an avid supporter of the DePaul Blue Demons. She loved watching the annual March Madness tournaments and cheering on Team USA during the Olympics.
She cherished being a grandmother along with being a "GiGi" to her six great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching them all participate in sports, dance and music recitals, graduations, and never-ending birthday parties.
In her later years, Pat embraced life in assisted living where she enjoyed activities such as playing poker and attending happy hour events. She always brought warmth and enthusiasm to those around her.
Pat is preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank, her parents Patrick and Ann Byrne, two siblings William and Margaret in infancy, her brother Terry Byrne, her sister-in-law Ruthanne (late Peter) Hettinger, and her brother-in-law Robert Kingsley.
She is survived by her children, son William Kingsley of Walworth, WI, daughters Katherine (Joseph) Pierce of Aurora, IL, Carole (Todd) Freitag of Aurora, IL, and Jean Kingsley of Aurora, IL; her five grandchildren, Jacob Kingsley, Benjamin (Alissa) Pierce, Amy (Andrew) Olinger, Christian Freitag and Natalie Freitag; her six great-grandchildren, Owen, Maeve, Robert, and Rosie Pierce, Franklin and Griffin Olinger.
She is also survived by her siblings Michael (Darlene) Byrne of Oswego, IL, Thomas (Candy) Byrne of Leawood, KS, Robert (Jaci) Byrne of South Bend, IN, Mary (Mark) Goetz of Mesa, AZ, and Richard (Marla) Byrne of Kansas City, MO and sister-in-law Marybeth (late Robert) Kingsley of North Fort Myers, FL.
Pat leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends especially from Blessed Sacrament Parish and the Silver Trails community.
Pat was the heart and soul of our family, a devoted and faithful daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her grace, her unwavering faith, and her strength as the cornerstone of four generations. Pat's loving spirit and dedication to her family will forever be cherished and remembered.
A service to celebrate Pat's life will be held on July 17, 2026. Visitation beginning at 9:30 am followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 801 Oak St, North Aurora, IL 60542 with Father Aaron Downing officiating. Concelebrating the service will be Pat's brother Deacon Robert Byrne. Interment will follow at Marywood Cemetery.
