Patricia Ann Daugherty (nee Jacobsen, Kramer), 73, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at her home from a fierce battle with brain cancer; which she outlived all time expectations. She was born on May 19, 1949 in Rockford, IL to Mary Rita and Bjarne Jacobsen.
Pat graduated Guilford High School in 1967 with a scholarship to Northern Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in 1971 and her Master's degree in 1978, all while working to pay for college as a server and by pumping gas.
She was a lifelong educator and a devoted community servant. Pat retired from school district 131 in 2004 working at both Dieterich and Johnson Elementary Schools. She was also an instructor at Aurora University helping aspiring educators. Pat gave endless support to children in need with tutoring. She brought her educational skills to good use at AAUW holding several different board positions, including Aurora branch President. Pat was a loyal servant to the choir of Our Lady of Mercy and proudly fulfilled her civic duties as an election judge.
She was a loving, giving, patient and wise woman, of which boundless people admired and trusted. She will be missed dearly by her family, community, and church for years to come. We love you so much Pat!
She is survived by her daughter Josie (Ryan) Kramer; her siblings Bruce (Lee Ann), Steve (Sue), Neal (Jennifer), Teresa, and Brent; and several nieces and nephews Steve and his daughter Caitlin, Gina (Tom) and her family Tom, Casey, Austin, and Kiely, Jennie (Daniel), Lara and Cate.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 at 12:00pm at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Fr. Michael Kearney will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Arlington Memorial Park in Rockford, IL.
