Obituary

Nicholas R. Beyer, Jr., 63, of Millington formerly of Aurora, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 8, 2014. He was born September 19, 1950 to Nicholas R. Beyer, Sr. and Elizabeth (Linden) Beyer in Aurora, IL

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Laural A. (Jennings) Beyer; three daughters, Amy L. Beyer of Montgomery, IL, Kelly A. (Johnny Lopez) Beyer of Montgomery, IL, and Jessica L. Beyer of Millington, IL; his three grandsons, Trenten G. McElhone and Julien E. Lopez of Montgomery, IL and Payton J. Billos of Millington, IL. His brothers Theodore J. (Joyce) Beyer of Bristol, IL, David L Beyer of Plano, IL, Stephen A. (Brenda) Beyer of Montgomery, IL, and Martin L. Beyer of Aurora, IL; three sisters; Bonnie L. Root of Montgomery, IL, Joan M. (Hurstel) Howard of Montgomery, IL, and Janet M. (Robert) Johnson of Aurora, IL and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas R. Beyer, Sr. and Elizabeth M. (Linden) Beyer; three brothers, Russell B. Beyer, Dennis L. Beyer, and James R. Beyer.

Nick and Laural were married on November 18, 1972 in Aurora, IL and spent the next 35 years living as the caretakers of Garfield Park in Aurora. Nick worked for the City of Aurora in the park department. As caretaker of Garfield Park he was responsible for the park grounds and for the care and maintenance of the baseball fields at Garfield and Solfisburg parks. After retiring from the City Of Aurora he moved to Millington, IL where he spent the next seven years enjoying his grandsons, working in his yard, and spending time with his family and friends. To his daughters whom he loved with all his heart he was known as "good old Dad", to his grandsons who meant the world to him he was known as "Grumpy" He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 7:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora. 630-631-5500.
