Mike A. Saltijeral

Miguel A. “Mike” Saltijeral 79 of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Presence Mercy Medical Center. He was born September 24, 1935 in Durango, Mexico. Mike was a devoted member of St. Joseph Church and a lifetime member of the Guadalupana Association. He was employed by Marmion Military Academy from 1957 until 1963 and then as a Union Tradesmen for twelve years at Austin Western. Mike retired from Caterpillar after sixteen years of service as a welder. He was a member of the UAW 145. Mike was always giving of himself and serving his community, he always put other people first. He was a member of the Aurora Civil Defense, a patrol officer for the Aurora Park District and a lifetime community activist. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-one years, Maria (Gonzalez); seven children, Suzy (Eddie) Banuelos, Mike (Esther) Saltijeral, Sandi Saltijeral-Contreras, David (Heidi) Saltijeral, Yadira Saltijeral, Gabriel (Denise Ponce) Saltijeral, Hugo (Jessica) Saltijeral; twenty two grandchildren, Alyssa Gonzales, Alex Banuelos, Alyson Banuelos, Jonathan Silva, Jessica Saltijeral, Amanda Saltijeral, Jason Contreras, Kristina Contreras, Aracel Contreras, David Saltijeral, Taylor Saltijeral, Samantha Saltijeral, Elijah Saltijeral, Robert Barrera, Robert Ruiz- Saltijeral, Julio Saltijeral, Angel Saltijeral, Justin Saltijeral, Sofia Gabriela Saltijeral, Hugo Saltijeral, Jr., Anthony Saltijeral, Peyton Saltijeral; two sisters, Socorro (Thomas) Jimenez, Martha Saltijeral; Many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Emilia (Alvarez) Saltijeral; his son, Robert Saltijeral; a grandson, Nico Contreras; two brothers, Nicholas Saltijeral and Raymundo Saltijeral. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. He will be missed by all. In his memory, let’s honor him by being especially kind and compassionate to each other. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 at 9:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM, Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
