Miguel Angel Garcia, 87, of Batavia, died Monday, July 19, 2021, in his home.
He was born February 7, 1934, in Cuba, the son of Nicholas and Angelica (Gonzalez) Garcia.
He had worked as a Life Insurance Agent in Camajuani, Cuba until he emigrated to the United States in 1966. He then worked for AllSteel and most recently Caterpillar in Montgomery prior to his retirement in 1987.
Miguel was a Freemason during the time he lived in Cuba. He enjoyed gardening, and playing dominoes and chess with his grandchildren. He was an avid Cubs fan and was elated to watch them win the World Series in 2016 with his family. Miguel enjoyed watching classic movies. He was a huge fan of Katharine Hepburn, John Wayne, Greta Garbo, Charlton Heston, Humphrey Bogart and Gary Cooper, with one of his favorite movies being The Ten Commandments.
He was preceded in death by his son Miguel A Garcia, Jr.; his parents; and three sisters Ramona Garcia, Maria Luisa Sotolongo, and Juana Sotolongo.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Iraida; his daughter Bridget (Thomas Freeman) Johnson of Batavia; his grandson Nicholas Michael Johnson and his granddaughter Catherine Angelica Johnson.
Funeral services will be private per family's wishes.
