Merle E. Miller, 95, of Aurora, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Jennings Terrace in Aurora. He was born May 31, 1927, in Aurora the son of Willard and Margaret (Kreitz) Miller.
He retired from All-Steel in Aurora after 45 years as a tool and die maker. Merle enjoyed his home and yard, was an avid Cubs fan, but most of all he enjoyed and was proud of his family.
Merle was a past member of St. Nicholas Church, a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, American Legion Post #84, V.F.W. Post #7452, Moose Lodge #400 and the Serra Club.
Merle was a Veteran of the Marines serving during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife Esther Marie in 1971, his parents; his daughter Marilyn Gould; three brothers Earl, William and Charles Miller as well as a brother and sister in infancy.
Survivors include four daughters Lynda (William) Goheen of Aurora, Marie (Paul) Reuland of Yorkville, and Kathleen (Frank) Evans of Evergreen, CO; four sons William (Lisa) Miller of Clinton, John (Ellen) Miller of Rochelle, Thomas Miller of Rockledge, FL, and Robert (Barbara) Miller of Fresno, CA; 21 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren; his brother James (Karen) Miller of Charles Town, WV; and two sisters Marmae Haight of Warrenville and Betty (Ed) Becker of Aurora; three sisters-in-law Jane Miller of Somonauk Marilyn Miller of Algonquin and Dolores (Bob) Heffelfinger of Arizona; his brother-in-law Tony (Helen) Boecker of North Aurora; dear friend Rosemary Abel of Aurora; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 9:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:00 AM, Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Wake Service at 4:00 at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, IL 60506. 630-631-5500.
