Merilyn C. Theisen of Aurora, Illinois passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, surrounded by family and friend. She was 71 years old. Merilyn was born on December 26, 1951, to Nicholas and Theresa Theisen.
Merilyn was raised in Aurora, IL. Merilyn graduated from Saint Nick's School in 1965 and Madonna Catholic High School in 1969. She retired from the City of Aurora in 2009 after 29 years of service and then returned as a temporarily employee for another 10 years.
Merilyn was a dedicated and loving mother and truly enjoyed being a grandmother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed getting different genres of books to read from her friend Lacey. She also shared her love for cooking and baking from holidays to Sunday dinners. Merilyn was just shy of celebrating her 30th anniversary as a breast cancer survivor.
Merilyn is survived by her daughter Mindy (Kris) Melvin and their children Derik, Abigail and Rebecca Melvin; daughter Jennie (Jay) Tennis and their children Nicholas and Jackson Tennis; sister Jean Sheldon; brother-in-law Carl (Laurie) Abbott and their daughter Megan Abbott; niece Theresa (David) Linkletter and their children Andrew, Matthew and Lauren Linkletter. She was also survived by very special friends Diane Duy, Lacey and John McFall.
In addition to her parents, Merilyn was preceded in death by her brother David Theisen, two sisters Mary Patricia "Pat" Mallette and Helen Abbott, her brother-in-law Dennis Sheldon and niece Sherrie Lloyd.
