Mary Lois Jungels, 93, of Aurora, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Mary Lou was born July 9, 1928 in Chicago. She was the daughter of Alfred and Alice Marie (McLaughlin) Dorner. On April 24, 1954 she married Donald G. Jungels in St. Charles.
Mary Lou grew up in Chicago. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She dedicated most of her professional career to teaching primary grades at St. Joseph School in Aurora where she was also an active member of the church. Mary Lou was a wonderful teacher and is fondly remembered by scores of her previous students. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by two children, Susan M. Jungels and David G. (Sue Prokop) Jungels; three grandchildren, Jason (Marilyn) Medina, Christina (Charles) Hinton, and Daniel (Morgan) Jungels; great grandchildren, Owen, Emily, Jacob, Noah, and Trevor; one sister, Ann (Jerry) Hapka; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dorner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald G. Jungels; Parents, Alice Marie and Alfred Henry Dorner; brother, David Dorner; daughter, Mary Ann Jungels, in infancy; and daughter in-law, Patricia Jungels.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 9:30am from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00am. Fr. Matthew McMorrow will officiate with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, 630-631-5500. Due to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, face masks are required for those in attendance at the funeral home and the church.
