Mary Ellen Connolly, 86, beloved daughter of Hugh "Pat" and Anne (Laurinas) Connolly entered eternal life on Thursday, December 17, 2020. She was born February 3, 1934 in Aurora, Illinois. Mary Ellen was a loving cousin and friend to many.

She was a graduate of Holy Angels Grade School and West Aurora High School class of 1952, she then attended Aurora College. She was employed at Barber-Greene Company for thirty eight years, and then as a Cost Accountant at Fermi Lab for twelve years until her retirement in 2001. In her retirement years she volunteered at Mercy Hospital as an Eucharistic Minister and in the gift shop. She also volunteered at the Dominican Literacy Center and as a breast cancer survivor as a Reach to recovery member. Her favorite hobbies included foreign travel and for a decade she led trips to Europe, China and Australia for Holy Angels Church. She was a lifelong fan of the Chicago White Sox and Notre Dame. She was a member of Holy Angels Church and a Dominican Associate of the Springfield Dominican Sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 12:30 PM from the DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Holy Angels Church at 1:00 PM. Fr Joel Rippinger, O.S.B. will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St. Aurora, IL. 60506. (630) 631-5500.

In adherence to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, non-family visitors are asked to pay their respects to the family for only a few minutes and exit the funeral home in a timely fashion. Social distancing and face masks are required for those in attendance. We appreciate your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mary Ellen's name may be made to Rosary High School or the Springfield Dominican Sisters.
