Marie was born on November 6, 1913 in Chicago, IL to Nicholas and Anna Adam. She graduated from St. Martin Commercial Department in 1930. She married Edward Mathieu in 1942. Ed was in the Army and stationed in Cheyenne, WY, so off they drove to Cheyenne where they lived until 1944 when Ed was sent overseas. In 1943, their daughter Patricia was born. Marie returned to Aurora, where Ed joined her after his discharge and they lived on Edwards Street, until their move in 1999 to Wedgewood Apartments in Montgomery, IL. After her heart attack in 2012, Marie moved into Sunnymere Senior Community Living where she lived until her death.
Marie's first job was at Electro Motor in LaGrange until her marriage. After moving to Cheyenne she was employed at United Airlines. When she returned home to Aurora she went to work at Thor Power Tool. Her last job was at Dynacolor, which was bought by 3M. For 35 years Marie bowled on two bowling leagues and she and Ed traveled all over the United States, wherever ABC bowling tournaments were being held. Marie and Ed loved entertaining their friends and had a lot of parties at their home. Every holiday the whole family would assemble at their house to enjoy good food and fun. In her later years Marie loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and always enjoyed a strawberry milkshake.
The family would like to thank Sunnymere for all their help, kindness and love they gave to our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Marie W. Mathieu.
