Margaret Hogan passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2025, supported by her loving and beloved family. Reaching 92 years of age, she saw her world move from cold-water flats, ice boxes, potbelly stoves, and party-line telephones to cellphones and computers
Throughout her life, her main focus was her children, for whom she sacrificed much to give them a good life and help them succeed. She was always there for her children with just what they needed at just the right time – emotional support, encouragement, wise advice, and help with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She also had a varied and interesting work career, serving in her young years as a telephone operator and waitress, and later as a cafeteria manager, apartment building owner and manager, secretary, real estate agent, and graphologist.
She was both loved and admired by her family, as well as her friends. All who met her could immediately see her kind nature along with her steely resolve, which was summed up in her favorite refrain of, "You can do anything you put your mind to." She was a special human being and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her
She is survived by her children, Marilyn Weisner, Judy (Edward) Hogan Dougherty, and Dawn (Stephen Smick) Hogan; grandchildren Anthony Scotti, Deanne (Christopher) Castro, George (fiancée Nicole Miller) Turner, Dr. Alexandra (Dr. Nicholas Molbert) Smick, and Dr. Stephanie Smick; great-granddaughters Olivia Scotti, Zoe Scotti, and Isabela Castro; nephews Rodney (Melissa) Haberkamp, Michael (Linda) Haberkamp, and Doug Holub; nieces Margie (Mel) Fondse, Karen (Jerry) Whitmire, Cynthia Holub, Donna Giuliano, Robert Hogan, Donald Hogan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hogan; grandson, Thaddeus Weisner; parents, James and Emily Loomis; sisters Joan Holub and Alice Haberkamp; aunts, Verna Klepac and Connie Davis; uncle, Cyril Klepac; nephew, Clayton Haberkamp; son-in-law, Mayor Thomas Weisner; and many long-time and childhood friends.
Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 9:30am to Annunciation Church at 10:00am. Fr. Patrick Gillmeyer, OSB, will officiate with interment at Assumption Cemetery.
