Lois Kelly (Hunt), age 75, passed away peacefully from natural causes at Loyola University Medical
Center Maywood, surrounded by her family on April 1, 2025 at around 2:35pm. She was born on
December 18, 1949 in Aurora, IL. As a young girl she grew up on a farm with her sisters Carol Hunt
(Carpenter) and Arlene Hunt (Davis).
In her youth, she attended St. Therese Catholic School and graduated from Madonna High School. Lois continued her post-secondary education at Waubonsee Community College. While finishing up at Waubonsee, Lois married her high school sweetheart, Donald Kelly at St. Therese church. In the years that followed, Lois Kelly gave birth to three daughters and a son; Krista Kelly, Autumn Jackson (Kelly), Amber Kelly, and Brian Kelly. Lois and Don were fortunate to have celebrated 55 years of marriage together.
As a loving and supportive young mother, Lois Kelly was actively involved in the church and at the local St. Joseph Catholic School. Lois took great pride in lovingly caring for her children, making sure that all of their needs were met. She was an exceptional baker, would often bake treats for her kids, the church, & school events; and her confections were highly sought after by those within the community. When she wasn't baking treats, she could be found taking her kids to school events, or out for meals. She was also an accomplished pianist and violinist. She would play organ and sing for mass at St. Therese.
Once her children grew up, Lois Kelly pursued a career at AT&T. She was a consistent and reliable
employee, that the team depended on daily. Throughout her long career of over 30 years, she
demonstrated adaptability, keeping pace with changing applications and computing systems. She
earned distinctions for her many years of commitment and service. Her team loved her and really
enjoyed all of the years they had with her. She enjoyed being active and loved her job and the work that she did. She chose to work full time until she became ill, opting not to retire.
Lois Kelly was a very sweet, kind and selfless person. People who knew Lois best thought very highly of her; remembering that she would never say anything negative about anyone, had a positive and upbeat spirit, and kept a heart full of optimism. She had a really big heart and always saw the good in every person. Throughout her life, Lois continued to love and support her children and grandchildren. She always looked for ways to spend time with them. It wasn't uncommon for her to treat her family to meals, take them for outings, or just support them however she could. She loved going to watch the grandkids sports games, ballets and events.
She is preceded in death by her children Brian Kelly and Amber Kelly, and her parents Benjamin Hunt and Leone Hunt.
She is survived by her husband; Don Kelly. She is also survived by her daughters; Krista Kelly and
Autumn Jackson (Kelly). She is also survived by the following family: Her son-in-law; Willie Jackson. Her daughter's partner Dave Nelson. Her grandchildren; Kahley Kubal, Ryan Sanchez, Collin Sanchez, Alec Sanchez, June Jackson, and Colton Nelson. Her siblings; Carol Carpenter (Hunt) and Arlene Davis (Hunt). Her Brother-in-law; Stan Carpenter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 3 pm to 7 pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake St., Aurora, IL 60506, 630-631-5500. A Wake Service ceremony will be conducted by Father Jerry Leake and will start shortly after 3 pm.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12:00 pm from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY; to St. Joseph Church at 12:30 pm, Father Leake will officiate, located at 722 High St., Aurora, IL 60505. Following the mass, interment will take place at Mount Olivet, located at 278 Ashland Ave., Aurora, IL 60505.
