Obituary

Leo J. Pawlowski, Sr, age 92 of Aurora IL passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Aurora, IL. He was born September 30, 1928 in Aurora, IL the youngest of nine children of Stanley and Mary Schmidt Pawlowski.
Leo was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, father, grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. He did a lot of volunteer activities and was known to have a kind spirit and friendly smile.
Leo was a U.S. Army veteran who proudly served our country in the Korean War from 1950 until 1952 and was later stationed in Germany. Upon returning home he continued to be a dedicated child to his parents until he met and married Margaret Flores in Elgin IL. Together they raised their children in Marywood, and he was a devoted Catholic and parishioner at Annunciation Catholic Church in Aurora, he was always the first to start the singing of hymns when no musician was present at daily masses.
He was an active member of the Phoenix Club in Aurora for over 70 years and active member of the Tiger and Luxemberger Clubs. He played golf and bowling for decades and continued to play outdoor bowling until he was 88. He retired from Caterpillar as a process engineer and spent his free time attending his grandchildren's sporting and extra curricula activities, he also enjoyed spending time playing cards, billiards, gaming machines and visiting with others at the various clubs in Aurora, IL.
He is survived by his five children, Leo J Pawlowski, Jr of Oswego IL, Mark (Amy) Pawlowski of Aurora IL, Judy (Lee) Pawlowski-Cieslak of Aurora, IL, Jeff (Mary) Pawlowski of Oswego IL, and Patty (Rick) Smith of Tolono, IL; nine grandchildren ranging in ages 8 to 26, Gabrielle Pawlowski of Schaumburg, IL, Hayley Pawlowski of Naperville, IL, Samual Pawlowski of Miami Beach, FL, Lukas Pawlowski of Aurora, IL, Anthony Pawlowski of Oswego, IL, Elizabeth Pawlowski of Oswego, IL, Abigail Smith of Tolono, IL, Jackson Smith of Tolono, IL, and Cooper Smith of Tolono, IL.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Margaret Flores Pawlowski whom he married in 1961 and lost in 1980; his parents; three sisters Delores, Betty and Frances, and five brothers Walter, Fred, Edward, Stanley, and Joseph.
Memorial visitation will be held, Thursday, May 6, 2021 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street Aurora, IL. 60506. (630) 631-5500.
Memorial mass will be offered Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Church, 1820 Church Road, Aurora, Illinois 60505; Fr. Robert Wilhite will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery.

In adherence to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, non-family visitors are asked to pay their respects to the family for only a few minutes and exit the funeral home in a timely fashion. Social distancing and face masks are required for those in attendance.
