Laurence A. Barry, 97, of Aurora, passed away Sunday December 5, 2021 in his home. He was born November 23, 1924, in Newark, NJ, the son of Laurence and Margaret (Lynch) Barry.
Larry received his Bachelor's Degree from Catholic University in Washington DC, and then worked for ITT Kellogg of Chicago. He then received his Master's Degree from the University of Chicago. After 1981, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant at L.A. Barry and Associates in Lombard for 28 years prior to his retirement.
Larry was a Veteran of the Navy and served both Atlantic and Pacific Theaters during World War II.
He married Margaret Phelps in Chicago November 5, 1960.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Margaret "Peggy" Barry; two brothers Donald Barry, and David Barry in infancy; and two sisters Margaret Jane Martin and Marilyn Sipple.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Barry of Aurora; his five daughters Kathleen Barry of Aurora, Elaine Barry of Florida, Maureen (Ed) VanScoit of Aurora, Eileen Barry of Aurora, and Colleen Barry of Pensacola, FL; one son Larry (Annie) Barry of Gurnee; 16 grandchildren; his sister Helen Siragusa of Winthrop, ME; his sister in law Sylvia Barry of Buffalo, NY; and his brother in law Kevin Sipple of Texas; many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church in Aurora with Fr. Oscar Cortes and Fr. Bob Willhite concelebrating.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois. 630-631-5500. Visitation will also be on Friday, from 10:15 AM until time of service in the church.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, face masks are required for those in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Larry's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org , the Knights of Columbus, or St. Rita Parish.
