Kathleen M. Rasich-Simpson, age 75, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on September 29, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and an unwavering devotion to her family. She was born on April 18, 1951, in Aurora, Illinois, to Robert and Elsie (Tomse) Rasich.
Kath was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elsie Rasich; her beloved husband, Jack Simpson; her step-grandson, Kyle Simpson, and her beloved dog Jimmy.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Virginia (Robert) Jensen, Donald (Suzanne) Rasich, Dave (Sue) Rasich, Di (Hal) Hauser, and Joanne Svendsen; her stepson, Jack (Louise) Simpson; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
Kath graduated from Madonna High School in 1969 and went on to work for Farmers Insurance until her retirement. Throughout her life, she was known for her strength, determination, and unmistakable personality. She battled diabetes for 50 years, facing each challenge with remarkable courage and perseverance.
Family was everything to Kath. She was lovingly regarded as the matriarch of the family and cherished the time spent with those she loved. She had a strong opinion, wasn't afraid to share it, and loved a good argument—one she would usually win! Her spirited nature, quick wit, and ability to make herself heard will be deeply missed.
Kath was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and, perhaps even more famously, THE #1 Green Bay Packers fan. Her favorite Packer was Brett Favre, and cheering on her team was one of the many joys she carried throughout her life (Go Pack Go!). In her younger years, she lived in Wisconsin and especially loved spending time “Up North,” and in later years she also spent time in Tennessee; making memories that remained special to her.
Kath’s life was defined by the love she had for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her fierce spirit, her determination, her loyalty, and the many ways she brought people together. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
The family would like to extend a very special thank-you to the Patino family for their friendship, kindness, and unwavering presence in Kath’s life. You were truly her guardian angels, and your love and support meant more than words can express.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Kath’s memory.
