Julio F. Plata, 82, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Rush-Copley Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1942 in Mexico.
Julio was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was involved in many military organizations during his life. Julio had a huge passion of trains. His family was his life. He loved, protected and provided for everyone in his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Manuela Plata of Aurora, IL; his three children Diane Plata of North Aurora, IL, Michelle (Rinaldo, Sr.) Zepeda of Montgomery, IL, and Kimberly (Peter, Sr.) Walter of Aurora, IL; five grandchildren Emily (Armand Escareno) Zepeda, Peter (Carla) Walter, Jr., Anthony (Elidia Gutierrez) Walter, Rinaldo (Alexander Cleveland) Zepeda, Jr., and Cipriano "Frankie" Walter; his great grandson Armand C. Escareno "Ace"; two sisters Dominga Plata and Gloria Ward both of Aurora, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his niece Linda Gonzales; his nephew Chevo Plata, Jr.; his parents Estelita (Gonzales) and Francisco N. Plata; three brothers Chevo Sr. (Juanita), Richard, and Paul; and his brother-in-law and best friend Charles Ward.
Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Monday, September 23, 2024 at 9:30am to St. Peter Church at 10:00am. Fr. Ruben Herrera will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
