Obituary

Joseph Brown Jr. affectionately known as "Joe" was born on April 7, 1937 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late Joseph Brown Sr. and Alberta Smith Brown.
Joseph attended Watkins Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. It is there where he accepted Christ at a young age. He was educated by Chambers and The Mound Bayou School System
Joe migrated to Chicago, Illinois. He then moved to Aurora, Illinois where he met the love of his life, Shirley Williams. Joe married Shirley Williams on March 3, 1962 and was blessed with two (2) children, Sherry White and Craig White. Their union was blessed with Roberta Smith, Randy Brown (Cherie Brown), Julia Brown, Julianna Brown and Joann Brown.
Joe was a "Gentle Giant" that loved people, especially his family. Joe had a fondness for cars and car racing. He won several trophies. He was known for his engaging stories and sense of humor. Prior to his passing, he was a devoted member of Gayles Memorial Baptist Church in Aurora, Illinois. He was loved dearly by his church family.
Joe departed this life on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Joe was loved by many and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Brown Sr. and mother, Alberta Brown; wife Shirley Brown; daughter, Sherry White, three siblings, Willie Mae Brown, Cornelius Brown and Paulina Gordon.
He leaves cherish memories to his six children, Craig White, Roberta Smith, Randy Brown (Cherie Brown), Julia Brown, Julianna Brown, and Joann Brown; two sisters Mildred Jones (Purlie), and Josie James; five brothers, Sampson Brown (Betty), Samuel Brown (Rose), Eugene Brown Sr. (Dorothy), Hercle Brown (Linda) and Homer Hunt; Cornelius, Tiffany, Harvey, Aadyn, and Zariah and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
