Jose "Joe" Barajas, Sr., 94, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at his son's home. He was born March 19, 1927, in Aurora, Illinois.
Jose was a proud US Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a devoted member of St. Therese Church. He was a dedicated employee of thirty two years at Austin Western. He retired from Richards-Wilcox Conveyor.
He is survived by his two sons, Joe (Sandy) Barajas and Alex (Keli) Barajas; three grandchildren, Abigail Barajas, Amanda Barajas and Eric Barajas; a sister, Mary Barajas; a brother, Pete (Cecil) Barajas; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna Maria (Gutierrez) Barajas; his parents, Sacramento and Altagarica (Hernandez) Barajas; seven siblings, Albert Barajas, Philip Barajas, Frank Barajas, Juanita Saldano, Felix Barajas, Alexander Barajas, and Jessie Barajas.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 22, 2021from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 60506. (630) 631-5500. Due to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, social distancing and face masks are required for those in attendance.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 9:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to St. Therese Church at 10:00 AM; Fr. Darwin Flores will officiate with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
