John P. Moisa, 73, of Plano, Illinois passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Born on January 30, 1948 in Aurora, Illinois, he was the son of John and Viola (Silagi) Moisa.
John was raised in Aurora in the Romanian neighborhood known as Pigeon Hill. He served in the United States Army at Ft. Carson, Colorado as a "MAST" Helicopter Medic. After his discharge he returned to work as a journeyman meat cutter for Jewel Foods. John was an Aurora Fire Fighter/Paramedic. He retired with a rank of Lieutenant after thirty years of service.
John is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Christine Neumann-Moisa; son, John James Moisa; daughter, Nicole Amber "Sunshine" Moisa; and granddaughter, Emily Rose Moisa.
John was an avid archer and hunter, who encouraged many to join the sport. He also served for several years as a police commissioner in Plano, Illinois. He was known as "Pops" to many and enjoyed their company while sharing stories with them.
The family will have a private remembrance at a future date and asks that any donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org in his name.
