John "Jack" Gengler, 78, passed away on January 29, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Jack, as everyone knew him, was born May 30, 1944 in Seattle, Washington to the late Harry and Helen Gengler.
Jack is survived by his son Pat (Kathy) Gengler, his daughter Lorie (Mike) Garrone, and his grandchildren Jake, David, Alyssa, and Anna. He is also survived by his sister Sue Lowney and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Judy, parents Harry and Helen Gengler,
brother-in-law and longtime business partner, Dennis Lowney, and nephew Mark Lowney.
Jack was a 1962 graduate of Marmion Military Academy and a 1966 graduate of Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the time of his passing, Jack was President of Gengler
Lowney Laser Works in Aurora. He was a lifelong sheet metal worker and well-respected small business owner. Being a successful business owner was just a small part of Jack's life. He was always so proud of his children and their successes in life.
Jack always made time to see his family and grandchildren. Jack loved his yearly fishing trips to Canada where he enjoyed his time "relaxing" in the boat with the same get there first and leave there last attitude that he brought to his career. If Jack was not at home or work, you could always find him at 6:45 AM Sunday Mass at Holy Angels. Jack will forever be remembered for wanting to give to others. Whether it was his time at work, dinner with family, ink pens to almost every waitress in a restaurant in the Aurora area as well as most local police officers, or feeding the birds at his house, he was always worried about others. The idea of leaving the place better than the way you found it is how Jack lived his life.
The family would like to thank the staff from BrightStar Home Care and Seasons Hospice for the care and compassion they provided.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 5 th from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a liturgical wake
service at 3:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, IL.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 6 th from 9:30 AM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Holy Angels Catholic Church at 180 S. Russell Ave., Aurora, IL at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 278 Ashland Ave., Aurora, IL.
