Joel Brian Worland passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2026, at his home.

Joel was born on October 24, 1959, in Aurora, Illinois, to James G. and Joyce M. (Chally) Worland. He graduated from East High School in Aurora and went on to work for Nicor for many years, a job he truly enjoyed.

Joel had a love for life and for the people around him. He especially enjoyed bowling and was a proud member of the Latin Bowling Team. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino, watching all types of sports, and cheering everyone on. He loved playing cornhole and could always be counted on to join in the fun.

Above all else, Joel loved his family. He had a way of getting along with everyone and was known for his friendly nature, warm heart, and ability to make people feel welcome. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joel is survived by his siblings, Jay Worland; Jim (Georgia) Worland; Julie Worland; Valerie (Andres) Velazquez; Joyce (Carlos) Martinez; sister-in-law, Bonnie Worland; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Joyce M. Worland; and his brother, Jeff Worland.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made directly to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Daleiden Mortuary (220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois 60506, (630) 631-5500). A graveside service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00AM, with Joel's goddaughter, Ashley Ellison, officiating.

Joel will be remembered for his love of family, his enthusiasm for sports and bowling, his encouragement of others, and the joy he brought to the lives of those around him.
