JoAnn Riley, 90, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at her home in Aurora. Known as Jody, JoAnn was born on October 6, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of William Thomas and Fay (Chandler) Hughes. She retired in 1997after thirty-three years employment with CBI as an accounting clerk.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, JoAnn, prior to living in Aurora resided in the Downers Grove and Brookfield area. She was a member of Village Baptist Church in Aurora and was an avid baker and seamstress.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Julie) Evans and Greg Evans; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, who all love her peanut butter cookies. She is also remembered for sewing many Halloween costumes and draperies.
Preceding her in death are her son, Richard Evans; grandson, Patrick Evans; brother, Eugene Hughes; sisters, Ruth Jindra and Alice Rousselo; half-sister, Elnora Epps, and half- brother, Jim Hughes.
Funeral Service will begin Saturday, August 12, at 11:00 AM at Village Baptist Church, 515 S. Frontenac Street, Aurora.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 12, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Village Baptist Church, prior to the service.
