In 1980, along with three of their children, they opened McCue's Bar & Grill on Aurora's east side. Joan ran the kitchen, making homemade soups, chili, and her famous McCue burger. In 1988 they purchased Gaslight Manor, which they owned and operated until 2000.
Joan cherished family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. Joan was especially close to her twin sister Jean. Like most twins they were inseparable for most of their lives. Joan also cherished time spent with her other sisters and extended family. However, as life went on, it was her grandchildren and great grandchildren that brought her the most joy. She would light up whenever she saw them, and they were a constant source of joy and pride. Grandma just loved her babies.

where you may leave condolences for Joan's family.
The family would like to thank the wonderful team at Rainbow Hospice. Music therapist Sheila, nurse Mary, and caregiver J.J. and everyone else that cared for Joan. Your compassion, love and support were a true comfort to mom and our family.
Finally, Joan and her husband Jim were lifelong tomcats. Both graduating from East High and sending all seven of their children to East. Joan was even voted homecoming queen in 1951 while Jim was captain of the football team. To honor her wishes, in lieu of flowers Joan asked that contributions be made to East Aurora Football. Her final wish was for visitors to wear Red and Black.
