Joan J. Gaul, of Aurora, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born in Chicago to Martha and Frank Allen on May 11, 1933.
Joan and her family moved and settled in Aurora when she was 12 years old. Joan graduated from Madonna High School in 1951. In 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Gaul, and they shared 69 wonderful years together along with their 7 children. With Joan's help, her husband Jim, opened a business in Aurora called Mr. Fix It. In addition, she also volunteered at her church, at her children's school and worked, for a time, at Ace Hardware. Joan also volunteered at the food pantry for many years along with her husband
She is survived by her four daughters Cathy (Paul) Goddard, Cindy (Jim) Sperlakis, Julie Limes, and Mary (Pete) Bochnovic; her three sons Bob (Betti) Gaul, John Gaul, and Mike (Keri) Gaul; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim; her parents; and her two sisters Phyllis (Howard) Banks and Barbara Allen.
A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Patrick Church in Yorkville. Fr. Matthew Lamoureux will officiate with inurnment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
