James Ochsenschlager, age 79, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022. He was born in Aurora in 1943 to Valentine and Helen Ochsenschlager. Jim attended West Aurora High School, Class of 1961. He was married to Marcia Lirot of North Aurora. They have three children, Mia, Jason and Valen. He had a successful 45-year career at Lamphere's Furniture and Appliance on Lake Street in Aurora. Jim was also a partner with his brother, Bob, with Oxie Properties. They spent many years managing properties, both residential and commercial.
Jim spent many years enjoying time in Green Lake, Wisconsin. It was here that he captained his boat, spending countless hours towing his children, nieces and nephews around the lake. Green Lake was where Jim could be found relaxing on his porch, enjoying a nice cigar and vodka on ice, sharing memories of his life through funny stories that were always sure to make everyone laugh, despite how many times they had already heard them! Jim had a great sense of humor. He had a knack for making sure those around him felt welcomed. Jim was very compassionate to all, always stopping to help someone in need. He was a very patient and caring husband, father, grandfather and landlord.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marcia, his three children: Mia (Ken) Corriea, Jason (Heidi) Ochsenschlager, and Valen (Gina) Ochsenschlager. Jim is also survived by seven grandchildren: Isabel (Armando) Bolivar, Genevieve Corriea, Lily, Joe and Kate Ochsenschlager and Skye and Rachel Ochsenschlager. Jim is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Randi Ochsenschlager, and many nieces and nephews, who were all very special to him. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Valerie.
