James R. Windett, 92, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Amita Mercy Medical Center. He was born October 19, 1929 in North Aurora, IL the son of James A. and Florence (Croyl) Windett and grew up in Aurora, IL. He was united in married to LaVergne J. Brouch on June 9, 1951.
Jim was employed by Joyce 7up as a Route Salesman and being promoted to District Sales Manager in West Chicago. In the later years he was again promoted to Transportation Fleet Manager out of the Joliet and Northlake offices. Jim retired after thirty six years of service to Joyce 7up, and he was proud to work for the Joyce family.
Jim was a simple man, a man of faith, and he was a devoted member of Annunciation Church. He enjoyed a cold beer, a good cup of coffee, and jelly donuts! He loved the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls. He loved fishing and cooking. But he loved his family the most. In 1965 Jim and LaVergne purchased lake property on lost lake in Iron River, WI and for forty eight years it was the family vacation destination. He was proud of his grandchildren and the "greats" were icing on the cake of life! He could tell the best stories and we heard them all many times. Jim could talk to just about anyone. He enjoyed his life, it was full and happy. He was an honest man, and worked hard to support his family; he will be missed so much but will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Survivors include his four children, James E. Windett, Gerri (Alan) Frey, Donald Windett, and Daniel (Shelly) Windett; seven grandchildren: Greg (Ashley) Frey, Steve Frey, Tim Frey, Matt (Susanne) Windett, Ryan (Carrie) Windett, Katie (Joe) Ryan, Thomas Windett; four great grandchildren, Izzie Windett, Lucy Windett, Noel Windett, Nicholas Frey; his brother, Edward L. Windett; a brother-in-law, LeRoy (Barbara) Brouch.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty four years; his parents, his sister, Virginia Windett.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 at Annunciation Church at 1:00 PM. Fr. Joel Rippinger, O.S.B. will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
