James S. Toma, 75, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 in his home. He was born August 24, 1946, in Aurora, the son of Stephen and Patricia (Cox) Toma.
Jim had worked for Barber-Greene Company and then Allen Elementary School, both in Aurora prior to his retirement in 2006.
Jim served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was an extremely proud Veteran.
He was very involved in Aurora Boys Baseball where he coached the Exchange Club team in the Pony League for many years. He was also an avid Chicago sports fan, and was a member of the Turners Club, the Irish Club, and the Tiger Athletic Club.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Jerry Toma; and a niece.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Susan; three children Lori (Craig) Phillip of Montgomery, Michael (Bridget) Toma of North Aurora, and Jeffrey Toma of Aurora; his four grandchildren Kylie, Samantha, Nathan, and Zachary; his sister Connie Ryan of Aurora; and many nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to St. Joseph Church at 12:00 PM; Fr. Matthew Mc Morrow will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, 630-631-5500. Due to Covid-19 pandemic protocols, face masks are required for those in attendance at the funeral home and at church.
