James (Jimmy) Robert McCue, Jr passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2023, at the age of 68. Jimmy was born on January 16th, 1955, to James and Joan McCue Sr. He was the oldest of 7 and loved his siblings with all his heart. Jimmy graduated from East Aurora High School where he exceled in athletics and is still friends today with many of the people he met there. A Tomcat, through and through. He went on to play football at the University of New Mexico. This was a short journey that he took with his best friend and brother, Danny. It wasn't long before they were home again, but the memories he made were ones he still shared from time to time. Being with his brother was one of his favorite things, after all.
Jimmy, his father and brothers opened McCue's Pub in 1980 where they met so many lifelong friends that would become family. Many St. Patrick's Days and late night after hours were enjoyed there. In 1988, they opened McCue's Gaslite Manor, where they were well known for their annual New Year's Eve parties.
Jimmy married his first wife, Cindy, and had two daughters. Together they raised their girls, Kelly and Kari and made wonderful memories that would last a lifetime. Even after their divorce, Cindy and her husband Norm became invaluable friends to him in the coming years. It was in the next chapter of his life that he met and married his second wife Nicole and had their beautiful daughter Danielle. This baby girl came much later in life and provided him with more joy than ever imaginable. His "second wind".
Jimmy loved his friends and enjoyed many golf trips to Palm Springs, vacations to Woodside Ranch, softball leagues, golfing, and football games; including one special game in Arizona that became one of his greatest memories.
He is survived by his daughters that he loved so dearly, Kelly (Sonny), Kari (Bryan), and Danielle McCue; his granddaughters, Millie and Louise Shramovich; his siblings, Kathy Edwards, Billy (Barb) McCue, Johnny (Laura) McCue and Patti McCue; nieces and nephews, Cristin, Joey (Ashley), Alyssa, Bryan McCue, Kathryn (Keith), Jessica (Robbie), Jamie (Bobbie) McCue, Stacy Hayton, Amy, Steve (Beth) and Nathan Edwards, Ryan (Kristin) McCue, Carly (Anthony) Volpi and Cody McCue, Nicole (Randy) Baum, Jack Laursen-McCue, Sammy, Emily and Michael Moravek and 23 great nieces and nephews with one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Daisy and James E. McCue Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Roy and Gertrude Brown; his parents, Jim and Joan McCue; his brother and Irish twin Danny and sister-in-law Darlene; his brother Tommy McCue and nephew Anthony Moravek.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 1st, 2023 from 2pm-7pm, with a memorial service from 3pm-4pm at the Batavia Moose Lodge, 1535 S Batavia Ave, IL 60510. Please join us in celebrating the life Jimmy lived and be ready to share all your memories. We want to hear them.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to assist Jimmy's daughters with funeral expenses. Contributions can be made to Kari McCue.
