Irene M. (Anen) Geltz, 98 of Aurora, IL, passed away in her home on Monday, November 11, 2024. Irene was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Theresa (nee Haas) and Henry Anen.
Irene graduated from East Aurora Hight School, class of 1943. She was united in marriage in 1949 to N.H. Geltz "Norbert" and they spent many years operating Geltz Well Drilling. Later she was employed by Sonoco Products.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church and enjoyed making many dresses for the children in Africa and in Haiti.
Irene and Norb enjoyed traveling the United States for many years. She was an avid quilter and won many awards, leaving many quilts for her family to enjoy.
Irene leaves her son, John (Gail Bohr) Geltz of Big Rock, IL; grandsons Brian (Jennifer) Geltz and Timothy (Margaret) Geltz of Sandwich, IL; five great grandchildren, Lily, Mia, Ian, Ethan and Ellie, all of Sandwich, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert, daughter Marie and son James; her parents, one brother John and sister-in-law Viola Anen.
Funeral mass will be offered on Friday, Nov. 15 at St. Joseph Church at 11:00 am. Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday morning from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 722 High St., Aurora, IL. 60505.
