George "Pete" Stare, 83, of Aurora, IL passed away peacefully Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Thrive of Lake County in Mundelein, IL. He was born August 22, 1940 in Aurora, IL.
Pete graduated from Marmion Military Academy in 1958 and Loyola University in 1962. He served in the US Army from 1962-1964.
He married Carole Martin on September 7, 1968 and they raised three children together. He was employed as a controller from 1964 until 1990 for Aurora Steel Products, which later merged with Richards-Wilcox. He then went to work for Thompson Steel in Franklin Park, IL from 1990 until his retirement in 2004.
After he retired, Pete & Carole had a wonderful time traveling and spending time with family and friends. Pete also volunteered at Senior Services. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Chicago sports fan. He especially loved going to Chicago Cubs games. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his three children John (Alison) Stare, Melissa (Tiffany) Stare, and Meredith (Kevin) Sturtz; two grandsons Nicholas Stare and Elijah Sturtz; his sister Patricia Johnsen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carole (Martin) Stare; his parents Violet (Lindstrom) and George Stare; and his brother-in-law Stewart Johnsen.
A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 12:00pm at Holy Angels Church in Aurora, IL. Burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park.
